Rosselkhoznadzor has notified grain exporters that Turkey's updated "Plant Quarantine Regulation" will come into force on August 4, 2026. The document establishes procedures for the export, import, re-export, and transit of plants, plant products, and other materials. Under the new requirements, special attention is given to smut diseases, including Tilletia barclayana, Tilletia indica, Tilletia controversa, and other species. Exporters of wheat and other grain products to Turkey must take these phytosanitary restrictions into account when preparing shipments.
The regulation takes effect in two years, allowing time for adaptation. Rosselkhoznadzor recommends timely review of the full text of the document and ensuring product compliance with the new standards.
