Russia and China Discuss Meat Export: Volumes and Plans

Russia and China held a round table discussion on the export of meat products, where they discussed the current state and future plans of the industry, with Russian companies expressing interest in expanding their exports to China.

On June 25, in Guangzhou, as part of the business mission of "Agroexport" and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, a round table was held on "Prospects for the Development of Meat Product Exports to China". The moderator, Sergey Lakhtyukhov, General Director of the National Union of Poultry Farmers, noted that Russia supplies meat to more than 60 countries, with China being a key buyer. Russia is the main supplier of turkey to China. More than 50 Russian sites have been certified for poultry meat, and three enterprises have been certified for pork; the industry is counting on expanding the list.

The Director of Development of the "Cherkizovo" group, Natalia Bartnovskaya, reported that the company is a leader in the supply of poultry meat to China, working in wholesale, food service, and retail. A representative of "Miratorg" in China stated that the company supplies 5-6 thousand tons of meat monthly (poultry since 2018, beef since 2019, pork since 2024) and plans to develop the export of chilled beef in 2025. The Director of Export of GC "Damate", Sampat Liyanage, spoke about the supply of turkey and duck meat. Chinese importers, distributors, and processors confirmed their interest.

Manager of Sheng Yekang Food, Ye Xiangyan, noted that the company purchases raw materials in Brazil, the USA, and Russia. Director of Sichuan Miloya, Wang Fenglin, highlighted the factors of success: brand promotion, certification, stability of supplies, and consideration of taste characteristics. General Director of Royal Invest Fujian, Yang Yuechun, pointed out that poultry meat is more saleable in 3-4 level cities, while beef and mutton are more saleable in 1-2 level cities; under the current market conditions, customers prefer small packages of high-quality products.
