First batch of Holstein heifers from Europe arrives in Akmola Region

The first batch of 165 Holstein heifers from Germany has arrived in the Akmola Region for a dairy project, with plans to import 330 breeding cattle total, as the animals undergo quarantine and veterinary checks.

In the Akmola Region, an agricultural project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the regional akimat, a private investor, and the joint-stock company "KOKSHE". The limited liability partnership "Burabay Milk" is constructing a dairy farm for 1,440 head of cattle in the Burabay District and a milk processing plant in the city of Shchuchinsk. As part of the project, it is planned to import about 330 head of breeding livestock. The company has begun forming its breeding herd: the first batch—165 Holstein heifers—arrived by air from Germany.

The animals are undergoing quarantine and adaptation. Over the course of 30 days, veterinary specialists will conduct a comprehensive set of tests, including checks for particularly dangerous diseases. The import of breeding stock will continue with the participation of the regional and district veterinary services.
