Uzbekistan Cotton Output Revised Up

USDA report revises MY 2025/26 Uzbekistan lint production to 750,000 MT and forecasts MY 2026/27 at 780,000 MT, citing hydrological deficits as a key risk.

The USDA's Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) report, dated May 7, 2026, revises Uzbekistan's marketing year (MY) 2025/26 cotton lint production to 750,000 metric tons (MT) and forecasts MY 2026/27 production at 780,000 MT. The primary downside risk for the upcoming season is hydrological deficits, with the Amu Darya river flow at 66.8 percent of the historical norm. Uzbekistan's textile sector is gradually shifting toward higher-value fabric and garment exports, supported by record government investment. However, sector profitability remains under pressure from rising electricity tariffs and soft demand in traditional export markets.
