Guangzhou City Snapshot Report Released

The USDA FAS published a snapshot report on Guangzhou, China, highlighting its population of nearly 19 million and its role as a key trade hub for U.S. agricultural exports.

On April 29, 2026, the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) published the 'China: Guangzhou City Snapshot Report' (GAIN Report CH2026-0058). The report identifies Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, as one of China’s four first-tier cities, with a population approaching 19 million and a rapidly expanding middle class. It ranks among southern China’s largest consumption and trade hubs, with robust demand for high-quality imported food products. The report notes strong opportunities for premium imported ingredients, particularly fresh fruits, dairy products, and seafood, supported by well-developed infrastructure including world-class ports and advanced cold chain logistics.

Guangzhou's strategic geographic location positions it as a key gateway for U.S. agricultural exports to southern China.
