Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov met in France with the Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), Emmanuelle Soubeyran. The parties discussed strengthening the veterinary system, implementing biosafety standards, and training personnel. Saparov noted that Kazakhstan adheres to international WOAH standards and is putting them into practice. Following the WOAH regional seminar in Almaty, elements of the "One Health" approach have been incorporated into the programs of three agricultural universities.
Jointly with international partners, projects are being implemented to control peste des petits ruminants, brucellosis, and to monitor antimicrobial drugs. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has allocated additional investments for 2024–2026 to modernize infrastructure, equip laboratories, and increase veterinarians' salaries. Soubeyran highly praised Kazakhstan's work and proposed presenting its experience at a ministerial roundtable during the 93rd WOAH General Session, with delegates from 183 countries. On May 20, a meeting of the WOAH Scientific Commission will take place, and on May 21, a vote on health statuses will be held.
