The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has declared its full readiness to further strengthen interaction with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). This was announced by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov during a Ministerial Roundtable at the 93rd General Session of WOAH in Paris, attended by WOAH Director General Emmanuelle Soubeyran, ministers from 30 countries, and delegates from 182 nations. Saparov presented Kazakhstan's strategic approaches to ensuring biological safety, modernizing veterinary infrastructure, and strengthening human resources. He noted that animal health impacts food security, international trade, and sanitary well-being.
Kazakhstan has over 8 million head of cattle, more than 22 million head of small ruminants, approximately 5 million horses, and about 48 million head of poultry. Thanks to state support, a stable epizootic situation is maintained, allowing the export of meat products to 20 countries worldwide. Special attention is given to modernizing the veterinary service, which employs over 15,000 specialists. The government views financing the veterinary sector as a long-term investment in biosafety.
Saparov confirmed commitment to cooperation with WOAH and international partners, emphasizing the need to build a new-generation veterinary system based on scientific data and digital solutions.
