In the Uygur district of the Almaty region, investment projects are being implemented to convert pasture lands into irrigated agricultural land. In total, about 10 thousand hectares will be brought into crop rotation. The company "Harvest Agro" is introducing digital technologies in the agro-industrial complex in the village of Kalzhat, including automated irrigation, humidity sensors, and AI-based crop monitoring. Full implementation of the project is planned for 2026–2029.
The total investment is 18.2 billion tenge. The project covers an area of 4.5 thousand hectares. It is planned to annually grow 20 thousand tons of corn and 4.5 thousand tons of safflower. The products are intended for export to Central Asian countries, China, and Iran.
As part of the project, it is planned to drill 120 wells up to 300 meters deep and install 120 "Center Pivot" sprinkler systems. The water supply for each installation is 125–150 cubic meters per hour. Thirty wells have already been drilled, and installation of 30 sprinkler systems is being prepared. LLP "Assem Kaljat" has converted 2.5 thousand hectares of pastures into irrigated land and sown 12 varieties of corn.
Fifty-nine wells with a depth of 180–200 meters have been drilled, 59 transformers installed, over 40 km of power lines and more than 300 km of drip irrigation pipes laid. Products are supplied to the domestic market and exported to Uzbekistan, Iran, and China. Main consumers include starch production enterprises, feed mills, poultry farms, and pharmaceutical companies. In the future, the enterprise plans to build three plants: for primary processing and storage of corn, production of PVC pipes, and manufacturing of drip irrigation systems.
The total investment is 23 million US dollars.
