The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan continues to protect agricultural lands from locust pests. To date, chemical treatment against gregarious locust species has been carried out on an area of 480 thousand hectares. Protective measures are being implemented in 12 regions using ground equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, and aviation. The largest volumes of treatments were carried out in the Turkestan region (291.2 thousand hectares), Zhambyl region (116 thousand hectares), Aktobe region (35.6 thousand hectares), and Zhetysu (17.3 thousand hectares).
In other regions, specialists from territorial inspections of the State Inspection Committee in the agro-industrial complex, together with the Republican Methodological Center for Phytosanitary Diagnostics and Forecasts, continue monitoring and surveying agricultural lands to identify pest hotspots. All regions are provided with the necessary volume of pesticides and equipment. To prevent the migration of locusts in border areas, the Ministry of Agriculture exchanges operational information with relevant agencies of neighboring states.
