State inspectors for plant quarantine of the Committee of State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, during phytosanitary control, detained the import of over 200 tons of food grain from Russia. Shipments of wheat and barley arrived in the Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, and Kostanay regions in violation of plant quarantine requirements. Dangerous quarantine objects were detected in the products: ragweed (Ambrosia trifida), creeping (pink) knapweed, and dodder. Over 128 tons of cargo were returned to the exporting country.
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the owners, and materials were sent to court. The measures are aimed at ensuring phytosanitary safety and preventing the import of products threatening Kazakhstan's agriculture.
