Spring field work in Kazakhstan continues, with agricultural crops sown on 8.9 million hectares to date, the Ministry of Agriculture's press service reported via APK News. Grains account for 5.5 million hectares, oilseeds for 2.3 million hectares, forage crops for 642,000 hectares, cotton for 166,000 hectares, vegetables for 102,000 hectares, melons for 77,000 hectares, potatoes for 93,000 hectares, and sugar beets for 22,000 hectares. In key grain-growing regions, Akmola Oblast has sown 2 million hectares, while Kostanay and North Kazakhstan Oblasts have each sown 1.3 million hectares. Southern and southeastern regions show high progress: Zhambyl region is 98.1% complete, Zhetisu 97.5%, and Almaty region 96.1%.
Nationwide, agricultural enterprises operate 133,900 tractors, about 5,600 high-performance seeding units, 71,400 seeders, and 188,500 tillage implements, with 70 service centers providing technical support. The fertilizer application plan for 2026 is 2.3 million tons; contracts for 1.4 million tons have been signed, and 1.2 million tons shipped. Local regional budgets have allocated 56.3 billion tenge for 2026 to subsidize fertilizer costs and improve affordability.
