Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut stated at the V All-Russian Grain Forum on May 22, 2026, that Russia will maintain its status as one of the key grain suppliers to the global market. According to the results of 2025, the harvest of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 144.6 million tons (+11% compared to 2024). In the current season (2025/26), Russia expects to export about 60 million tons of grain, retaining its leading position in the world for wheat exports. The grain transshipment capacity at Russian ports is approximately 85 million tons, with plans to increase it by more than 15 million tons by 2030.
The Ministry of Agriculture, together with relevant agencies, is working on developing port, railway, river, and land infrastructure, including support for transportation from Siberia and maintaining an affordable tariff policy for remote regions. The minister also noted the need to develop exchange trading to form own transparent price indicators for Russian grain, reduce dependence on external platforms, and expand financial risk insurance tools. Russian grain is exported to more than 100 countries, with Russia providing about 20% of global wheat exports. Key destinations include the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
