At the "FOC 2026: Fats and Oils Conference" in Astana, Vice Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly presented data on the diversification of sown areas. The share of oilseed crops increased from 11% in 2023 to 17% this year, reaching 4.2 million hectares. Gross profit from oilseeds rose 2.2 times to a record 5 million tons. Rapeseed plantings more than tripled over three years—from 97,900 to 337,400 hectares.
Flax areas expanded from 909,100 to 1.3 million hectares, and sunflower areas grew by 600,000 hectares. Sunflower harvest reached 2.5 million tons for the first time (double that of 2023), flax at 1.4 million tons (a 3.7-fold increase), and rapeseed at 630,000 tons (more than a five-fold increase). To develop storage infrastructure, the Agricultural Credit Corporation JSC launched a preferential financing program for the construction and modernization of grain elevators at 6% per annum. A condition for receiving funds will be the implementation of an electronic raw material accounting system.
As part of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Agricultural Economy for 2026–2028, the share of processed products in the agro-industrial complex is planned to increase to 70%. Gradual expansion of preferential lending volumes to 1.5 trillion tenge, expansion of machinery leasing, and introduction of the "E-AIC" platform are also planned.
