Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on the results of spring field work. Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov reported that the sowing campaign has been completed: agricultural crops have been planted on 23.8 million hectares (+180 thousand hectares compared to 2023). Grain and leguminous crops were sown on 15.8 million hectares, oilseeds on 4.3 million hectares, and fodder crops on 3.3 million hectares. Farmers received 402 thousand tons of subsidized diesel fuel, the demand for seeds (2.3 million tons) has been fully met, and the application of 2.3 million tons of mineral fertilizers is planned.
Treatment against locusts has been carried out on 665 thousand hectares out of the planned 2.2 million hectares. In the first four months of 2025, 338 thousand tons of all types of meat were produced (+3.4%), including 112.9 thousand tons of beef (+6.1%), 34.7 thousand tons of lamb (+8.1%), and 41.2 thousand tons of horsemeat (+3.8%). The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts the production of 1.2 million tons of meat in carcass weight by the end of the year. Kazakhstan has officially received the status of a country free from foot-and-mouth disease.
The share of processing in agricultural exports exceeded 51%. The volume of investments in fixed capital of the agro-industrial complex reached 1.6 trillion tenge. Over two years, 540 new production facilities were commissioned, including 89 livestock complexes, 70 dairy farms, 35 grain storage facilities, 35 vegetable storage facilities, 16 poultry farms, and 12 projects for the production of vegetable oils. Over 1.2 trillion tenge is allocated for the development of the agro-industrial complex in 2025, of which up to 750 billion tenge is for sowing and harvesting work.
Farmers have already received loans totaling 573 billion tenge, covering 6.8 million hectares. The Prime Minister instructed to strengthen control over water use: the area under rice has been reduced by 20.6 thousand hectares (to 79.9 thousand hectares), while the area under cotton with drip irrigation has been increased by 29.8 thousand hectares (to 79.8 thousand hectares). Instructions were also given to complete chemical treatment of 2.2 million hectares against locusts, provide farmers with domestic fertilizers at stable prices, and launch programs for preferential lending to greenhouse farms, horticulture, and fish farming.
