On the sidelines of SPIEF-2026, an EAEU session titled "The Role of EAEU Countries in Shaping International Agricultural Production Markets" was held. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated that over the decade of the union's development, agricultural production in EAEU countries has grown by nearly a third in real terms, mutual trade has increased 2.7 times, and exports have risen 2.5 times. The level of food self-sufficiency stands at about 94%. Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Markovich noted that a key growth point for the agro-industrial complex is deep processing of raw materials and the production of high-value-added products.
Russia has maintained its top position in supplies of wheat, frozen fish, sunflower oil, peas, and buckwheat. Last year saw a significant increase in exports of high-value-added agricultural products. Markovich emphasized the need to develop storage and processing capacities for agricultural raw materials and to stimulate projects in niche and technically oriented crops. He reported that developing a financing mechanism for joint cooperative agricultural projects in EAEU countries will help boost the production of high-value-added products.
Additionally, in 2026, the goal has been set to launch a unified digital platform for the agro-industrial and fisheries complexes.
