Kazakhstan completed its 2026 sowing campaign with a total area of 23.8 million hectares, increasing oilseed and fodder areas while reducing wheat and rice. State support includes 750 billion tenge in preferential financing, fuel subsidies, and a machinery leasing program. Regional highlights include new grain processing investments in Akmola and leading flour production in Kostanay.

The 2026 sowing campaign in Kazakhstan has been completed. The total sown area amounted to 23.8 million hectares, which is 180 thousand hectares more than in 2025. The crop structure includes: grains — 14.6 million hectares, oilseeds — 4.2 million hectares, fodder crops — 1.2 million hectares, cotton — 166 thousand hectares, sugar beet — 22 thousand hectares. The wheat area was reduced by 125 thousand hectares to 12.1 million hectares.

The oilseed area was expanded by 74 thousand hectares, and fodder crops by 237 thousand hectares. The rice area was reduced by 20.6 thousand hectares. For preferential financing of spring field work (SFW) at 5% per annum in 2026, it is planned to allocate 750 billion tenge. Funding has been provided to 4.8 thousand agricultural producers totaling 573 billion tenge (covering 6.8 million hectares).

Under the state guarantee program, 1,733 guarantees were issued for loans amounting to 273 billion tenge. For the sowing campaign, 402.3 thousand tons of preferential diesel fuel were allocated at a price of 281 tenge per liter (15% below retail). A total of 300.9 thousand tons have been shipped (75% of the plan). In the Akmola region, the sown area is 5.6 million hectares, with oilseeds expanded to 715 thousand hectares (+220 thousand hectares).

Since the beginning of the year, 1.9 million tons of grain have been exported. In the Arshaly district, the construction of a deep grain processing plant with a capacity of up to 3 million tons per year is planned (in collaboration with Dalian Hesheng Holdings Group Co., Ltd., with investments of 900 billion tenge, 2026–2028). In the North Kazakhstan region, the sown area is 4.3 million hectares, with oilseeds at 1 million hectares. In the Kostanay region, spring sowing covers 5.2 million hectares, with oilseeds at 887 thousand hectares.

The region ranks first in the Republic of Kazakhstan for grain processing into flour (30% share, 35 mills with a capacity of up to 2 million tons per year). For the preferential agricultural machinery leasing program in 2026, it is planned to allocate at least 300 billion tenge.
