Kazakhstan completed its 2026 spring sowing campaign within established agricultural deadlines across all regions, according to the APK News agency. The total sown area reached 23.8 million hectares, an increase of 180,000 hectares from the previous year. The government reported that a comprehensive set of state support measures facilitated timely completion, including early campaign financing, preferential leasing, and a state guarantee program.
By crop, the breakdown is: grain crops 14.6 million hectares; oilseeds 4.2 million hectares; forage crops 1.2 million hectares; cotton 166,000 hectares; vegetables 120,000 hectares; potatoes 126,000 hectares; melons 84,000 hectares; sugar beets 22,000 hectares. Wheat area was reduced to 12.1 million hectares, down 125,000 hectares.
The government allocated 750 billion tenge for concessional financing of spring sowing and harvesting at 5% per annum in 2026. As of the report date, approximately 4,800 agricultural producers had received 573 billion tenge, covering over 6.8 million hectares. The state guarantee program, covering 85% of loan amounts, issued 1,733 guarantees totaling 273 billion tenge in 2026, with 16 billion tenge allocated from the republican budget.
The Ministry of Energy allocated 402,300 tons of diesel fuel for the campaign, with subsidized prices fixed at 281 tenge per liter, 15% below the average retail price of 330 tenge per liter. Farmers had signed contracts for 324,800 tons (81% of the plan), with 300,900 tons shipped.
Key regional data: North Kazakhstan region sown area 4.3 million hectares; Akmola region 5.6 million hectares; Kostanay region 5.2 million hectares. In Akmola region, a deep grain processing plant is planned jointly with Dalian Hesheng Holdings Group Co., Ltd., with 900 billion tenge investment, scheduled for 2026–2028, creating up to 1,000 jobs initially and up to 3,000 at full capacity.
