According to the KGI in the Agro-Industrial Complex, as of June 11, 2025, 954 thousand hectares have been treated against locust pests in Kazakhstan, which accounts for 43% of the projected area. Overall, in 2025, it is planned to treat 2.2 million hectares — 30% less than in 2024. The reduction in the plan became possible due to the introduction of a unified service procurement system and adjustments to the output norms of fan sprayers (reduced from 100 to 70 hectares). This allowed for an increase in the number of involved machinery by 556 units (+25% compared to 2024).
The phytosanitary service fleet has been updated: 103 drones were purchased (57 for surveys, 46 for chemical treatments). The "FITOCENTRE" application was launched, and a project on digital technologies, AI, and drones is being implemented jointly with FAO. Operational headquarters are functioning as usual. The leadership of the KGI in the Agro-Industrial Complex is in the Aktobe, Kyzylorda, and Abay regions to oversee protective measures.
