Protection from Locusts in the Aktobe Region: 66.7% of the Area Treated

The Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan inspected the quality of protective measures against locusts in the Aktobe region and noted the need to strengthen preventive measures.

The Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kenzhehanuly, during a working trip to the Aktobe region, inspected the quality of protective measures against locust pests. He visited the regional quarantine laboratory of the RGP "Phytosanitary" and the PCR laboratory, where he assessed the operational diagnostics and the quality of research. A field meeting was held with the participation of the territorial inspection, the Republican Methodological Center for Phytosanitary Diagnostics and Forecasts, as well as organizations conducting chemical treatments, to discuss the current phytosanitary situation and the results of monitoring the spread of locusts. The meeting noted the need to strengthen preventive measures, improve the effectiveness of preparations and treatment technologies.

Instructions were given to strengthen monitoring, promptly identify foci, control the quality of treatments, and prevent further spread of pests. In 2026, protective measures are planned in the Aktobe region on an area of 424 thousand hectares. To date, 283 thousand hectares (66.7% of the plan) have been treated. The work continues according to the approved schedule.
