The Atyrau Sturgeon Fish Farm state-owned enterprise of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan released over 1 million sturgeon fingerlings into the Ural River as part of the state order for 2026. The stocking is carried out to artificially reproduce the population of sturgeon species and fulfill the Republic of Kazakhstan's international obligations to conserve the aquatic biological resources of the Caspian Sea. The enterprise is the only subject of state monopoly that extracts sturgeons from their natural habitat for reproductive purposes. The factory uses a unique biotechnology for growing fingerlings in growing ponds with conditions close to natural, which, according to the company, ensures a high level of survival and adaptation of the fingerlings after release into the natural environment.
Work on fulfilling the state order for 2026 continues with the participation of state bodies, the scientific community, and subjects of the fishing industry.
