Kazakhstan Aims to Completely Replace Poultry Meat Imports by 2030

Kazakhstan aims to completely replace poultry meat imports by 2030, with the domestic demand for food eggs already fully met and the level of self-sufficiency in poultry meat at 78%.

The XIII Kazakhstan International Poultry Forum "Poultry Hub Kazakhstan 2026" was held in Astana. Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov reported that there are 37 egg-producing poultry farms with a capacity of 4.5 billion eggs per year and 32 meat-producing poultry farms with a capacity of 505,000 tons in Kazakhstan. The domestic demand for food eggs is fully met, and the level of self-sufficiency in poultry meat is 78%. The goal is to completely replace poultry meat imports by 2030.

The capacities of enterprises such as "Prima Kus", "Nauryz Agro KZ", "Turkey PVL", and "Alei Agro" have been put into operation and expanded. It is planned to increase capacities by another 220,000 tons of poultry meat, including projects of JSC "Aitas" in Almaty region and JSC "Alei Agro" in Zhambyl region (a total of 170,000 tons). State support includes preferential lending at 2.5% per annum for up to 10 years, a program to replenish working capital at 5% per annum (7 poultry farms have been financed for 6.6 billion tenge), subsidies for poultry meat production in 2026 - 28 billion tenge, and an additional 1 billion tenge to reduce the cost of day-old chicks and breeding eggs. The Procurement Corporation has formed a reserve fund of 201,000 tons of feed grain for poultry farms at a fixed price.

From April 21 to October 21, 2026, temporary restrictions have been introduced on the import of chicken eggs. Products are supplied to the EAEU countries, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, and Qatar. A protocol has been signed on the export of poultry meat to China, and the inclusion of Kazakhstani poultry farms in the Register of Exporters of China is underway.
