Within the framework of the XIII International Poultry Forum, Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azat Sultanov held a meeting with Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Olga Abramova. The parties discussed deepening scientific and production cooperation, import substitution, development of the breeding base, and digitalization of livestock farming within the EAEU. Special attention was paid to ensuring selection and genetic independence. The Russian Federation proposed that Kazakhstan join an international scientific and communication platform with China to reduce dependence on foreign genetic resources.
Azat Sultanov confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan to develop joint projects in poultry farming, noting the importance of forming supply chains for hatching eggs and breeding material. Prospects for creating joint embryo centers and projects for expanded reproduction of cattle, including the development of the Kazakh White-headed breed, were considered. The Russian Federation proposed implementing, on the basis of veterinary organizations and the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, a unified system of herd orthopedic health standards using AI to reduce risks of losing highly productive livestock.
The parties discussed mutual supplies of live cattle and meat products, as well as improving logistics. Sultanov noted interest in acquiring high-quality breeding stock within the framework of replicating the experience of the North Kazakhstan Region and readiness to consider proposals for improving state support for agricultural producers. Relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center were tasked with working out the initiatives.
