The Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology (MBA) named after K.I. Skryabin is implementing two strategic projects under the Priority-2030 program: "Veterinary Welfare of the Agro-Industrial Complex" and "Genetic Resource Management." This was announced at a meeting with the participation of Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut. One of the key areas is the creation of a unified platform for predicting and managing the risks of the spread of economically significant animal diseases. In the first phase, the project focuses on avian influenza.
The platform will analyze genomic data of the pathogen, the epizootic situation, and transmission routes. By November 2026, the academy, together with partners, plans to present a working model of the IT component of the platform and conduct its validation. The second project is the creation of a unified technological platform for embryo transfer in cattle. The goal is to standardize the technology, increase reproducibility, and reduce costs for farms.
A full-cycle Reproductive Technologies Center has been established at the academy. Production trials are underway with the participation of EkoNiva, SGC Smena, and other partners. The academy is also involved in improving the domestic meat poultry cross "Smena 9," focusing on searching for genetic markers of productivity. A total of 48 graduate students and 56 undergraduate students are participating in the Priority-2030 program projects.
