The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported that as of June 29, approximately 1.5 million hectares, or 70% of the projected area, have been treated against locust pests. The leadership of the Agricultural Committee is monitoring the implementation of protective measures in the Atyrau and Mangystau regions. This year, 2.2 million hectares are planned to be treated, a 30% decrease compared to the 2024 target. The country has introduced a unified service procurement system and adjusted the use rates for fan sprayers.
The phytosanitary service's equipment fleet has been upgraded with 103 drones purchased. A partnership project with the FAO is being implemented to improve locust pest control using digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
