Vice Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly discussed the expansion of the greenhouse complex of Green Capital Kazakhstan LLP in the Aktobe region with the management of Food Ventures and DENSO Group. The total estimated investment amounts to approximately €50 million. The existing complex has been operational since 2017 with the participation of Dutch Food Ventures and the Kazakhstan-Hungarian Direct Investment Fund. It includes 10 hectares of greenhouses, has created over 170 jobs, and has a capacity of up to 12,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products per year.
The products are supplied to the domestic market and exported to neighboring countries. The Japanese corporation DENSO Corporation (with an annual turnover of approximately $48 billion) has become a new strategic partner. In 2023, DENSO acquired Certhon, a global leader in greenhouse automation, which will enable the introduction of advanced protected cultivation technologies in Kazakhstan. The project will be implemented in two phases, each consisting of 7 hectares of greenhouses.
The financing for the first phase amounts to €20–25 million, including costs for engineering and energy infrastructure. It is planned to create approximately 200 new jobs. The greenhouses will utilize Dutch and Japanese technologies for cultivation, automated microclimate management, and energy conservation. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with investors, is working on issues of infrastructure support, attracting financing, and utilizing state support mechanisms.
