534 billion tenge to be invested in greenhouses of Turkestan region

Three major greenhouse investment projects worth 534.2 billion tenge in Turkestan region will increase production by 102,000 tons annually, create 1,225 jobs, and cover off-season vegetable demand. The region leads Kazakhstan with 72% of national greenhouse area, producing 113,000 tons in 2025.

Three investment projects for the construction of industrial greenhouse complexes with a total cost of 534.2 billion tenge are being implemented in the Turkestan region. After the facilities are commissioned, the production of greenhouse products in the region will increase by 102 thousand tons per year, which will fully cover the demand for fresh vegetables during the off-season. A total of 1,225 permanent jobs will be created. The Turkestan region is the leading region of Kazakhstan in greenhouse farming: the area of protected ground is 1,006.7 hectares (72% of the national total).

In 2025, more than 113 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in local greenhouses, covering 45% of domestic demand during the off-season. In the first four months of this year, 38.2 thousand tons were harvested. At the same time, greenhouse farms are introducing modern technologies and developing highly profitable crops. In 2025, 13 thousand tons of strawberries, 3.2 thousand tons of lemons, and 550 tons of bananas were grown.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan is implementing measures to support the greenhouse industry, attract investments, and introduce water-saving technologies.
