China Grain Update

China's corn production to reach 306 MMT, corn imports cut to 6 MMT.

China's corn production for MY2026/27 is expected to reach 306 MMT due to improved yields and expanding planted area. Corn imports are forecast to decrease to 6 MMT as Beijing continues to restrict grain inflows. Wheat harvest is expected to increase slightly year-on-year, but faces a regional quality imbalance. Rice consumption for MY2026/27 is revised up due to targeted auctions of aged rice stocks.

Barley imports for MY2025/26 are revised up based on strong trade data, with Australia as the dominant supplier. These forecasts are according to the Attaché Report (GAIN) CH2026-0085, released on July 3, 2026.
